Prohibited Travel to Texas? Submit the NCDA Travel Support Letter

NCDA shares its 2019 Travel Ban Letter with state employees who may be banned from state-funded travel. It is linked above (on letterhead for mailing) and pasted below.

To Those States that Prohibit Travel to Texas:

The National Career Development Association (NCDA) is hosting its Annual Global Career Development Conference, June 27-29, 2019 at the Marriott Marquis in Houston, Texas.  At the time of confirming this location, NCDA was unaware of the travel ban of many states due to the discriminatory state laws. NCDA is a unique career development association which sponsors its conference to over 1500 global attendees and offers continuing education and credentialing opportunities.  Although NCDA does have divisional associations in many of the US states, they don’t offer the robust hours of continuing education, nor the credentialing opportunities that is provided at the annual Global Conference.  NCDA is the leader in career development research, standards, advocacy, publications, and professional development.  It is also a social justice-focused association who advocates for all people.

NCDA endorses the following non-discrimination policy:

NCDA opposes discrimination against any individual based on age, culture, disability, ethnicity, race, religion/spirituality, creed, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital/partnership status, language preference, socioeconomic status, or any other personal characteristic not specifically relevant to job performance.

NCDA also endorses a diversity policy as well:

NCDA acknowledges the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of everyone by honoring diversity and promoting social justice. NCDA views diversity from an intersectional perspective, acknowledging the ways in which identities operate within systems of power, privilege, and oppression. NCDA strives to be a diverse organization in its membership and leadership.

We welcome your state participants at the 2019 NCDA Global Career Development Conference in Houston.  We hope you will consider approving their attendance so we can continue to advocate for all citizens to inspire careers and empower lives.  If you have any questions, contact Deneen Pennington, Executive Director, at dpennington@ncda.org.  Thank you for considering NCDA’s request to inclusive involvement in this special event.  Details are for the conference can be found at www.ncdaconference.org.
