virtual

The NCDA 2020 Webinar series presents:

Career Development Beyond Job Titles: How K-12 is Using Challenges to Prepare Students for an Exciting Future

Presented by: JP Michel

Tuesday, October 6, 2020

2:00-3:00 pm (Central Time)

The old paradigm of matching high school students to job titles is no longer serving us. The realities of our changing world of work demands that we help students look beyond job titles to find inspiring challenges to work on. This new approach to career education is called the Challenge mindset. For the last 3 years, thousands of students have been using the Challenge mindset to explore challenges to solve, the companies working on them, the people who work there, and what they need to learn to be able to do that. Teachers, guidance counsellors and district leaders have been leading this transformation in hundreds of schools. During this presentation, participants will learn about how K-12 leaders are using career education to promote equity, inclusion and achievement. We will explore three case studies as well as discuss student impact. Practical strategies and Challenge mindset activities will be discussed.
