Peter Callstrom has led nonprofit organizations in the San Diego region for 30+ years including services to people with disabilities, the homeless, and under-represented job seekers. He joined the San Diego Workforce Partnership (SDWP) as CEO in 2012. With an annual budget of $30M+ from multiple sources and investors (public, private sector and philanthropy), the SDWP funds, oversees and delivers workforce programs to empower job seekers to meet the needs of regional employers. SDWP also directly administers youth programs that reach thousands of youth with robust work readiness and job placement services. The SDWP was the recipient of the “WIOA Trailblazer” award in 2018 (of 550 workforce boards around the country) by the National Association of Workforce Boards, the SDWP is a nationally recognized leader.
Dr. Ian Martin is an Associate Professor of Counseling at the University of San Diego where he teaches courses in school counseling and career development. Prior to becoming a counselor educator, he was a school counselor in Portland, OR. Dr. Martin has published and presented on such topics as program development, program evaluation, and policy within school counseling. He is very involved in curriculum design and is the author of the True Goals curriculum. Recently, Dr. Martin has become increasingly involved in international school-based counseling. He has taught numerous international courses in South America, Europe, and the Caribbean; and was a visiting scholar at the University of Verona, Italy. Dr. Martin is a Center Fellow at the Ronald R. Fredrickson Center for School Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation (CSCORE), an Advisory Board member for the National Evidenced-Based School Counseling Conference, and a founding member of the International Society for Policy Research and Evaluation of School-Based Counseling (ISPRESC).
Dr. David Miyashiro currently serves as Superintendent of the Cajon Valley Union School District. David was named 2016 Superintendent of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators Region 18. With David's leadership, Cajon Valley has undergone a seamless transition to the digital age. Cajon Valley has achieved system-wide success with blended and personalized learning where all teachers and students have 24/7 access to their own district issued laptop, internet connectivity, and a digital ecosystem. In 2015, The Cajon Valley Union School District was inducted by Digital Promise into The League of Innovative Schools, a bipartisan nonprofit, authorized by Congress in 2008 as the National Center for Research in Advanced Information and Digital Technologies. This distinction ranks Cajon Valley in the top 73 US school districts for innovation and digital learning.
Ed Hidalgo is the Chief Innovation and Engagement Officer for the Cajon Valley Union School District, a public K-8 school district that serves more than 17,000 students across 28 schools in southern California. His focus is on the development, deployment and advocacy of the World of Work Initiative, a career development framework designed for students, families and teachers across grade levels. Prior to working in Cajon Valley, Ed worked as the Director of the World of Work Initiative for the Jacob’s Institute for Innovation in Education at the University of San Diego and prior in Human Resources and Government Affairs for Qualcomm.
